The LashCloak guide

How to use LashCloak.

A clear splash shield, a little preparation and a thoughtful wash-day routine. Here is how to understand the shield, apply it above your brows and remove it with care.

Read this guide and any instructions supplied with your pack before use. For a child’s hair wash, read the dedicated guidance below first.

First, get to know your shield

Two parts. One simple fit.

The broad, transparent sheet sits in front of the face. A narrow adhesive edge at the top attaches to bare forehead skin. The white release liner covers that adhesive before application; it is removed before the shield is worn.

The clear shield
Handle the sheet gently at its sides. Keep the surface smooth and allow it to curve away from your lashes and face.
The adhesive edge & liner
Peel only the release liner from the top adhesive edge. Do not try to separate layers of the transparent shield or cut it to create a different shape.

From your first peel to your last rinse

Your routine, step by step.

Take time to fit the shield while everything is dry. A mirror is useful for checking the forehead edge before you start.

  1. Open the pack & check the shield

With clean, dry hands, open the packaging carefully and take out one shield by its sides. Check that the clear sheet and upper adhesive edge are intact. Do not use a shield that is torn, dirty, damaged or missing its backing.

    A little more detail

Keep the remaining shields in their original packaging, clean and dry. Avoid using a blade close to the shields when opening a pack. If the packaging or product is different from the illustrations, check any supplied instructions or ask us before using it.

  2. Find the top edge & release liner

Hold the shield with the narrow adhesive edge at the top and the broad clear sheet hanging below it. Locate the release liner that covers the adhesive. This is the backing you will peel away; the transparent sheet stays in one piece.

    A little more detail

The liner protects the adhesive before application. Once it is removed, the attachment edge is clear. There should not be an opaque paper strip between the shield and your skin when it is worn. Do not peel at the centre of the clear sheet.

  3. Prepare a clean, dry forehead

Hold your hair back and choose a clear area of bare skin above your eyebrows and below the hairline. Gently clean and dry that area. Oil, cream, makeup or moisture where the adhesive sits can interfere with its grip.

    A little more detail

Do not apply the adhesive to eyebrows, eyelashes, hair, broken skin or an irritated area. If you have a known adhesive sensitivity or are unsure about suitability after a skin treatment, ask for advice before using the shield. Keep a dry towel within reach.

  4. Peel the backing away

Hold the shield at its side and lift one end of the release liner. Peel it slowly along the top edge to expose the adhesive. Remove the liner fully before application and avoid touching the exposed adhesive with your fingers.

    A little more detail

Put the removed liner aside safely. If you cannot identify which part is the backing, stop and contact us; do not pull apart the clear sheet or use a sharp tool near it. Avoid resting the exposed adhesive on a counter, towel or clothing.

  5. Position it above your brows

Face a mirror and centre the shield in front of your face. Place the middle of the clear adhesive edge on dry, bare forehead skin above the brows. Keep it below the hairline, with the transparent sheet curving out in front of your eyes and lashes.

    A little more detail

The attachment edge belongs directly against the forehead, with no visible lifted gap. The sheet below it needs space in front of the eyelashes; it should not press against them. Keep the lower edge clear of the mouth and do not use it if the fit obstructs breathing or comfortable vision.

  6. Press gently & check the contact

Using clean fingertips, press the adhesive edge gently from the centre towards each side. Check the full edge in the mirror for lifting, folds or trapped hair. Make sure the shield feels comfortable and stays in place before you begin washing.

    A little more detail

The goal is even contact with the skin, not a promise of a waterproof seal. If an edge will not stay attached, do not compensate with extra tape or glue. Stop and use a fresh shield only after checking the skin is dry and the fit is suitable.

  7. Wash with the water directed away

Rinse your hair with the water stream directed towards the hair and away from the face and adhesive edge. Avoid spraying directly at the shield. Continue to check comfort and stop if water gets underneath it, the edge lifts or the shield moves.

    A little more detail

Do not aim water upwards beneath the shield or treat it as protection for submersion. It does not replace your lash technician’s aftercare advice or normal lash cleansing. Follow the recommended timing for washing after your own treatment.

  8. Remove gently & dispose of it

Turn the water off and dry your hands. Support the forehead skin with one hand, then slowly peel the adhesive edge back along the skin from one side. Avoid pulling sharply outwards or tugging near the brows. Stop pulling if removal is uncomfortable. Check any removal guidance supplied with your pack or contact us; do not force it.

    A little more detail

Do not share a used shield or rely on it sticking again after removal. Keep used shields and liners out of reach of children and pets. Follow any disposal instructions supplied with your pack and local waste guidance; do not assume the adhesive film is recyclable and never flush it.

A visual reminder

Peel. Position. Press.

The liner comes off. The clear upper edge sits directly against the forehead. The sheet curves away from the lashes. Take these three checks with you into the longer routine above.

Review the fitting steps

Product images are illustrative. Read this guide and follow any instructions supplied with your pack.

One principle, different routines

At home. At the basin. In the chair.

The fitting method is the same for adult women and men: clean, dry skin above the brows, comfortable clearance and careful control of water. Children need an adult to handle every step; see the separate guidance below.

Lash routines at home

For adults who want an extra splash barrier in front of their eyes and lashes while washing their hair. Follow your lash technician’s treatment-specific advice, including when to wash and how to cleanse your lashes. LashCloak does not replace that care.

Adult hair washing

You do not need lash extensions to use a splash shield. Adult women and men can use the same fitting steps for hair washing, provided the shield fits comfortably. Keep shampoo and the water stream directed away from the face; do not rely on the shield to make eye contact with products safe.

Salons & barbers

Offer adult clients an optional extra barrier during a controlled shampoo rinse. During a haircut, the sheet may intercept some loose clippings in front of the face, but it is not complete eye protection. Check the client’s comfort, keep the work area visible and never share a used shield.

Not protective equipment. Do not use LashCloak instead of required eye protection for dyes, bleach, chemicals, sprays or tools.

A little extra care

For a child’s hair-washing routine.

Some children dislike splashes around their face while their hair is being washed. A shield is an optional barrier, not a promise that shampoo or water cannot reach the eyes. Comfort, a suitable fit and constant adult supervision come first.

The supplier age guidance provided to LashCloak is 9 months and up. Age alone does not establish a suitable fit. Read this section and any instructions supplied with your pack; if age, fit or suitability is unclear, ask us before use.

An adult handles every step

The adult opens the pack, prepares and applies the shield, controls the rinse and removes the shield afterwards. Keep the child within arm’s reach throughout washing. Never leave a child alone in or near water, even for a moment.

Check comfort before the rinse

Read the fitting steps in this guide and any additional guidance supplied with your pack. Keep the nose and mouth completely unobstructed and make sure the child can see and breathe comfortably. Do not force the child to wear it or improvise a fit with extra tape, glue or alterations.

Stop if the child is unhappy

Remove the shield carefully if it shifts, the skin looks irritated or the child pulls at it, resists or becomes distressed. Keep the rinse gentle and directed away from the face. The shield is not a bath-safety device or a substitute for supervision.

Keep loose pieces out of reach

Keep unused shields, packaging, the release liner and the used shield away from the child. An adult should collect and dispose of loose pieces promptly, following any disposal instructions supplied with the pack and local guidance.

General child bathing guidance from the NHS

A good fit comes first

If something does not feel right, pause.

Make adjustments before using water. Do not continue with a loose, uncomfortable or damaged shield.

The top edge lifts or leaves a gap
Stop before rinsing. Check for moisture, oil, hair or creases along the adhesive. Do not use extra glue or tape, and do not keep pressing a used adhesive edge back on. Start with a fresh shield only if you can achieve a comfortable fit.
The sheet touches the lashes
Do not use it in that position. The adhesive belongs above the brows and the sheet needs to curve away from the lashes. If the shape does not provide comfortable clearance for your face, the shield is not a suitable fit for you.
Water gets behind the shield
Stop the water and remove the shield carefully. A splash barrier cannot guarantee dryness. Check the direction of the rinse and the fit before trying again; follow your usual lash aftercare and cleansing instructions.
The skin stings, itches or feels uncomfortable
Stop using the shield and remove it gently. Do not reapply to irritated skin. If you are unsure about an adhesive reaction or a recent treatment, ask an appropriate professional before using it again.

The details that matter

A few helpful answers.

Can women and men use the same shield?

The application principle is the same for adults regardless of gender. Suitability depends on comfortable fit, skin tolerance and the task. Facial shape and lash length vary, so check clearance and forehead contact rather than assuming one fit works for everyone.

What should I check before using it for a child?

The supplier age guidance provided to LashCloak is 9 months and up, but age does not guarantee fit or skin tolerance. Read any guidance supplied with the pack and the child-use section on this page. An adult must apply, supervise and remove the shield, staying within arm’s reach throughout the wash. Do not use it if the fit obstructs the nose or mouth, if the child resists, or if the skin becomes uncomfortable.

Will it keep my lashes completely dry?

No complete-dryness guarantee is made. LashCloak is a splash barrier; water can enter if the fit lifts or the spray is directed underneath or towards the edges. It is not for submersion. Follow your lash technician’s aftercare, including normal cleansing and treatment-specific waiting times.

Should I peel a film off the whole shield?

The application step in this guide is to peel the release liner from the top adhesive edge. Do not try to split the transparent shield itself. If the packaging supplied with your order gives additional preparation instructions, follow those; if anything is unclear, contact us before using the product.

Can I remove it and stick it on again?

Do not rely on the adhesive after removal or share a shield between people. Once the adhesive has been exposed to skin, moisture or products, a dependable fit cannot be assumed. Follow this guide and any instructions supplied with your pack, and use a fresh shield for a new application.

How should a salon prepare for a client?

Explain the shield and ask whether the client is comfortable with an adhesive on the forehead. Read this guide and any supplied instructions, and check for known sensitivities before fitting. Use clean hands, prepare the forehead and confirm comfortable clearance. Keep the client able to see and communicate, and stop if the fit or comfort changes.
